The stars were beaten 5–1 by promotion-chasing Ammanford at Bush Park, with a dramatic final 10 minutes stretching the scoreline beyond what was, for large periods, a competitive performance.

First Half

The Stars made a bright start and looked the more likley side in the opening stages. Corey Jenkins came close inside the first minute, but a superb save from Luke Martin turned his effort behind for a corner. Despite the stars enjoying more of the ball, ammanford always looked a threat on the counter but were well thwarted by the stars defence.

in the 18th minute Ammanford had a huge chance to take the lead when they were awarded a controversial penalty , but Gavin Jones was unable to convert, giving the Stars a reprieve.

The visitors didnt let this deter then and soon after came very close to taking the lead with Jones striking the post, while at the other end Steffan Roberts had a good opportunity but was denied by Martin.

The game then swung on a key moment, as the dangeorous Jones latched onto a ball over the top and was brought down by Cael Jones, resulting in a red card for the Stars’ goalkeeper. The stars have had 2 keepers in the matchday squad for months and typically today that wasnt possible so midfielder macsen jones had to step into goal again.

Despite being reduced to ten men, The stars continued to compete well., making life difficult for the visitors, The numbers were levelled shortly before the break when Ammanford’s gavin Jones was sent off following an off-the-ball incident. Jones had been a constant threat in the first half so this should have been a big moment for the stars.

However, immediately after the dismissal, Ammanford took the lead. A free kick was wung into the box and the stars failed to clear their lines on multiple occasions and it resulted in a Craig McDonnell own goal to gave the visitors a 1–0 advantage at half-time.

SECOND HALF

The stars would have been dissapointed to go in at half time behiodn but were happy with the first hafl performance, giving them confidence that they could get back in the game. However, disaster struck immediatley with Ammanford extending their lead within a minute of the restart, with Chris Bellheading home from a free kick, making it 2–0 and leaving the Stars with a difficult task ahead.

The stars saw plenty of the ball and pushed forward in search of a way back into the game but found it difficult to break down a well-organised Ammanford defence, while the visitors remained dangerous on the counter-attack.

With the Stars committing bodies forward, Ammanford effectively sealed the points with nine minutes remaining as Daniel John finished a swift counter-attack to make it 3–0.

What followed was a frantic conclusion to the game. Craig McDonnell pulled a goal back almost immediately to make it 3–1, but within moments Ammanford were awarded a penalty, which Matthew Delaney converted.

Craig Mcdonnell scores to make it 1-3

Late on, Rhys Fisher marked his 400th appearance for Ammanford in style, coming off the bench to score their fifth goal and cap a memorable milestone.

While the final scoreline was disappointing, the Stars will take positives from large periods of the performance, particularly in the first half where they competed strongly against one of the league’s top sides. A difficult last 10 minutes ultimately proved decisive, but with the season nearing its conclusion, the focus now turns to finishing strongly in our final 2 league fixtures.
