📍 Venue: The Globe, Buckley

🏆 Competition: Welsh Blood Service League Cup – Semi-Final
📅 Date: 06/04/2026
The Stars make the long journey to North Wales on Monday to face Buckley Town in the semi-finals of the Welsh Blood Service League Cup, with a place in the final on the line in one of the biggest fixtures of the season for both clubs. We would like to thank one of our sponsors, adventure travel, for providing the transport for players and supporters tomorrow.

For the first time in the competition, the regionalised format falls away at the semi-final stage, bringing together the strongest sides from the North and South in a national contest. It sets up a rare and compelling cross-league encounter, adding an extra edge to an already high-stakes tie.
Both sides have earned their place in the last four through demanding cup runs built on resilience, quality and the ability to deliver in key moments. Now, with a national final within touching distance, the stakes could hardly be higher.
The Stars’ journey to this stage has been particularly impressive, beginning with a 3–2 victory away at promotion-chasing Caerau Ely. Goals from Macsen Evans, Callum Hodges and Carter Campbell saw us race into a commanding position before showing composure to see the game out.
That was followed by another stern test on the road against another promotion contender, Ammanford AFC. Corey Jenkins’ equaliser forced the tie to penalties, where the Stars held their nerve, with Craig McDonnell converting the decisive spot kick to secure progression.
In the quarter-finals, the stars delivered one of their most clinical performances of the campaign, scoring twice inside the opening five minutes through Tom Meechan to seal a 2–1 victory over Llantwit Major and book their place in the semi-finals.
Buckley Town’s route has been equally impressive and built on strong away performances of their own. They opened their campaign with a 2–1 win at Holyhead Hotspur, with Hugh Holland and Harvey Ellis on target.
They followed that up with a dramatic 2–1 victory away at Ruthin Town, where Oliver Blayney scored from the penalty spot before Bradley Barnes struck a 95th-minute winner to send Buckley through.
In the quarter-finals, they produced a composed and confident display to beat a strong Guilsfield side 3–1 away from home, with Max Moore, Connor Littler and Barnes again on the scoresheet.
Monday’s semi-final represents a step into the unknown for both sides. a national stage, unfamiliar opposition and the pressure of a one-off tie with everything on the line.
For the stars, the challenge is clear. After a demanding run of league fixtures, this is an opportunity to reset, rise to a huge occasion and take one step closer to silverware.
Buckley, meanwhile, will look to make home advantage count at The Globe, backed by their support and aiming to continue their strong run in the competition.
With both sides showing consistency, character and attacking quality throughout their respective journeys, this promises to be a fiercely competitive encounter — one that will likely be decided by fine margins.
